The AIS version of the Nikon 28mm f2.8 Nikkor was completely redesigned compared to earlier iterations of this popular wide angle lens. It features an eight element (in seven groups) design that has CRC (close range correction) and a minimum focusing distance of 8 inches (20 cm) for improved close up functionality. The 28mm focal length is a versatile wide angle focal length that lends itself to a variety of applications ranging from landscapes, to cityscapes, to group portraiture to architectural. It is one of the most popular first wide angle lenses for photographers looking to add a wide lens to their kit. This lens has a 52mm filter thread.
This lens has the AIS variant of the Nikon F lens mount and is most compatible with Nikon AI and AIS cameras, but it has the coupling bracket that makes it backward compatible with Nikon Non-AI cameras as well.
